Many people who start out blogging, make the same mistake, which is blogging just to blog. Thus not knowing what a reader wants to know or what you have to offer them.
For a blogger that can be a setup for disaster or failure in setting up and running a successful Blog. In this post I will be talking about some of the most costly mistakes that new bloggers make and how to avoid them.
Know Your Subject Matter!
If you want to start a Blog about Dog Training, you better know something about the subject or have a special interest in it. You don’t want to start a Blog you have no clue or no real interest in, your reader will pick up on that and you will not be taken serious. Blog about something you are passionate about.
What makes you the authority on the subject matter? We all have things that make us who we are today, whether it is training or experience. Experience trumps all! It is imperative that you let your readers know what makes you the authority on the subject matter by adding a about page and let them decide. Let your readers know how you can help them.
To keep your readers coming back, post regularly you decide how often, whether it be every two days or once a month, post regularly. I find that with a new blog it is better to post more frequently to attract new visitors. Older blogs have a lot of content and don’t require the more aggressive frequency.
I know I heard it a thousand times “Content Is King”. This can be the most difficult for some, keeping fresh up to date material is a chore, and this is why knowing your subject matter is imperative.
1. Did your post present a problem?
2. Did your post solve the problem?
3. Did your post have feedback?
If your answer is yes to all three question, you have done your job. Google loves fresh, original content and you won’t rank well in the search engine without it. So take it serious in posting, you don’t want to lose your authority or your readers.
I hope this helped out your blogging or your decision on what to blog about, if not please leave a comment below.
